Using Instruction as Classroom Management

Engaging lessons and classroom management go hand in hand.  Students are more cooperative when they are motivated by meaningful instruction.  (Weinstein) â€‹

It is my goal as a teacher to never* have a student misbehave out of boredom, because I plan for my students to always have something to work on, and to have my class so exciting that students feel it is worth their time to participate in my classroom.

In order to ensure that students stay occupied and motivated they will complete,

  • Anchor Activities- Students will have a Unit Vocabulary 'Green Sheet' that they must complete over the course of the unit.  Students will be expected to work on their Green Sheets, or another anchor activity if they ever complete any work early.  â€‹

  • Choice- Students will have choice in their assignments, allowing them to take ownership of their own learning.

*I understand that never can be difficult to obtain in the classroom, but it is still what I will strive for.
